An awesome drawing, MD. Really cool.
The only thing I don't like so much about it is how you handled the scale... looks too much like an exercise in filling in white space instead of finding an intersting texture.
But again, I'm only mentioning this because I really like the image in it's entirety.
I agree, that is the weakest link. I definitly plan to do better in my future snake people.
Very nice composition and fantastic concept. You should think of a way you can incorporate the scales on its back into some sort of pattern of faces or something more architectural, windows? Could be intriguing.
